Do all the reserved people need what they get? Do all the deserved people get what they need? The questions may seem a little twisted but these are the questions that should be asked and not make anyone uncomfortable.
The reserved people are said to be the group of historically disadvantaged people of India. And thus, to come out of that disadvantage, reservation came into existence. The idea behind was logical, to create equality and peace. Then what went wrong?? They did not plan on when to stop giving reservation. When to declare that the reserved people have reached equality and they no longer fall in the reserved category.
There are people in remote places who are still disadvantaged, there are people in some places who need reservations BUT there are also people who don’t need it. If a student from the reserved class studying in x university can afford an iPhone or smart phone worth 30-40k, I am pretty sure, they can pay their fees. And even the difference in cut off marks during admissions. If they go to the same college, attend classes of the same professors, and then getting very low marks, it is because they are not trying. It has nothing to do with backward class. And why will they try when they know that they will get admissions without trying. My aunt once told me what can be one of the solutions to this problem. I agree with her and I am sharing it with you guys:
Every disadvantaged groups’ first generation should be provided with all the reservation possible. To uplift them, to help them grow and make them equal. So now, that generation will get help financially, academically, economically, basically everything. Once the second generation of that group comes, they will be financially good enough and academically sound. But, people may need one more generation to build up themselves economically. So, the second generation should be provided with the economic reservations only. And from the third generation, they should no longer be given any kind of special reservation.
This may be one way out of this system. Else, on the process of removing one disadvantaged group, they are creating another one. And on the name of creating equality, they are creating inequality. And as a result of that, India is and will remain only a developing country, because this is the only place, where people fight to belong to a backward class. And calculating all the privileges of a backward class, why not?
Every person belonging to the reserved group just because of their surname does not need reservations. And every person, not belonging to the reserved group because of their surname may need a reservation.
Has this ever happened to you that you were thinking yourself to be someone your whole life and suddenly you wake up one day and realize that you were all wrong? If your answer is yes, this article is for you. And if you are still thinking, well then, this article is definitely for you.
Few days back, a girl came to me for counselling. I was all prepared because I thought it is just another day at work. I need to give some advice and show her the right path. And at the end, I will get paid. She came in with a smile on her face, the kind of smile you give when you are not sure what else you should do. She looked confused. She sat down, I tried making her comfortable and then finally, after 10 minutes, she spoke. She always thought herself as an academician. Her dream was to make a career in academics, but few days back, she started realizing that she doesn’t want it to be her career anymore. She was not sure what she was going through. So, she came to me. She told me that it feels like her whole life till now was a lie and she wasted her time. I, to be honest at first didn’t know what to say. But finally, I understood her and replied. The reply is what I am going to share with you here today.
There can be two reasons for this. Firstly, the way you are approaching with your work at present is not giving you the output you want. And this can be highly demotivating. You might feel like you are not satisfied with your work anymore and you want to change it. Now, if this is the reason, it is a temporary thing. Things will work out eventually. And this is the case with 70% of the lot. You just need to hang in there for a little more. But, if not, and you know it for sure without even a little bit of confusion, then it needs a great deal of courage to accept that everything you did till now is not what you want for yourself. But that doesn’t mean your whole life was a lie and you wasted your time. NO. You enjoyed doing what you did. That was a phase in your life which came to an end. Every phase has its age. Some phases are meant to last long, some are not. That doesn’t conclude anything. Instead, be glad that you were brave enough to accept the change and not just stick to your fake goals because you spent a lot of time chasing it. Priorities change with the course of life and this is something very normal. The moment you accept that, life becomes easy. If you are good at something, and you choose that to be your career, no one can stop you to excel. And always keep in mind, there is no competition, because no one can be you. You need to be who you are, because no one else will.
- cocoa powder (6 tbsp)
- all purpose flour (12 tbsp)
- suger (4 tbsp)
- eggs / milk(if vegeterian)
- butter (50 gm)
- baking soda (2 tsp)
- melted dark chocolate
- chocolate sauce
- In a bowl, beat 4 eggs. If you are vegeterian, skip this step.
- Now add melted butter and beat the mixture.
- Pour the suger in the mixture. For Vegeterians, add the milk. 1 and half cup will be enough.
- Add the melted dark chocolate and mix the mixture thoroughly
- Add cocoa powder, baking soda and flour to the mixture
Tip: you can mix it before and pass it through the net filter (I don’t know the exact terminlogy. I hope you guys can understand) to get a more refined powdered mixture.
- Mix everything and make a semi thick batter. You can add choco chips to make it more yummy.
- Pre heat the oven at around 250 degree celcius for about 10 minutes.
- Apply little butter or oil on your baking pan and pour the batter.
- Bake it for 25-30 mins.
- After it is ready and cooled, take the cake out on the utensil where you want to serve. Pour milk till it barely covers the cake and leave it for few minutes
- Once the cake soaks all the milk, pour the cream over the cake.
- After covering the whole dish with cream, garnish it with chocolate sauce.
Tip: you can use fruits, choco chips, sprinkles or anything you love for garnishing.
That’s it. Try it and comment if you like.
- Chicken (0.5kg)
- Vinegar/ White wine
- Coriander powder (1 teaspoon)
- Pepper (1 teaspoon)
- Oregano (optional)
- Cashew Nuts (10-15 pieces)
- Red onion (2 big ones)
- Green chilly (2 pieces)
- 5-6 pieces of charcoal
- Refine oil
- Cut thin slits on the chicken for the marination to go inside and make the chicken juicy and tender
- In a glass bowl, put the chicken followed by vinegar/white wine (3 teaspoon), salt (as per your requirement), coriander powder, oregano and pepper. Mix them thoroughly.
Tip: First always pour the acid, (vinegar here) to make the chicken tender and juicy. And use a glass bowl to mix when you are dealing with citric juices.
- In a mixer grinder, grind the cashew nuts and put it aside in a bowl or plate or wherever it is convenient.
- Then, grind the onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, a dash of salt and 1 teaspoon of oil. After the mixer is ready, add the grounded cashew nuts and give one more mix.
- Pour the whole mixer into the glass bowl where your chicken was and seal the bowl with the plastic wrap or a cover in the bowl to make it air tight.
- Keep it aside for 4-5 hours to get the perfect tenderness
- Open the lid or remove the plastic wrap after 4-5 hours. (If you kept it inside the refrigerator, make sure you took it out 5-10 mins before)
- Make some space in the center of the glass bowl and put a small steel bowl in the glass bowl.
- Now, take 2-3 pieces of charcoal and burn it on the gas stove. Once you are convinced that it’s hot enough, take them out and put it on that small steel bowl.
Tip: You will know the charcoal is hot enough when u see that it is becoming red from the bottom. It’s a work of few seconds.
- Pour 2-3 drops of oil on the charcoal and cover the glass bowl again to let the smoke go inside the chicken. Keep it for 5 mints.
- In a frying pan, put 1 teaspoon of butter and wait for the butter to turn brown.
Tip: Do not wait too long. Butter burns very easily and that will spoil the taste. This is just for the light brownish color.
- Now, lower the heat and put the chicken pieces. Cover the pan for 5 mints.
- Pre-heat the oven at 250-300 degree Celsius and put the chicken inside it for 30-35 mints. Keep a check so that it doesn’t burn.
Tip: you can pour the remaining marinate on the frying pan and mix the remaining butter on the pan with it. When the chicken is ready, toss it with the marinate in the frying pan.
- Once the everything is ready, repeat step 3 and 4 for the smoky flavor before garnishing
- Serve it hot with salad and chutney.
comment if u loved the recipe….!!
“If you do not follow your dreams, who will? ” -Emeril Lagasse
A line to be pondered upon. But I was a tad pensive about a thought that what if I am not sure about my dream. What if I don’t know what my passion is, or rather I have not figured it out till now ? Should I wait or develop a new passion? If I develop a new one suppose, am I following my own dream or just copying someone else? What if I realized later that the passion I developed is not the one I am passionate about and its too late now? These thoughts led me to write this article.
I love cooking. Apart from the fact that I need someone to help me cut the veggies or wash the dishes after everything is done, I love cooking and garnishing. But sadly, I have not chosen that as my profession. I went for engineering, something totally unrelated with my hobby. People say, make your hobby your profession. But it is not that easy sometimes. I was never sure what should I opt for as a career. I took engineering because everyone else did. And now, when I sit back and think, I sometimes have doubts about it. But then again, I am starting to get interested in engineering. I am even starting to find connections between my hobby and the career I chose. So, I guess I am back on track. At least I hope so…
From my personal experience, I can say that it’s not always about following your dreams. It’s not always as easy as it sounds to be. And I also agree that its not meant to be easy. But sometimes, there is a more relaxed way, a way somewhat easier, a way you can walk on. You just need to give it some time. Sometimes, it’s okay to go with the flow instead of being rigid and running behind one particular thing. If you are really passionate about your dream, you will find a way out. For few, it happens fast, for few, it takes time. As it is said, everybody has got a different timeline and things will happen based on that timeline. A great example of this is Obama and Trump. Barack Obama ended his presidency at the age of 55 but Donald Trump started his presidency at the age of 70. So, you need to trust yourself, trust everything happens for a reason and trust that you will get your chance too. You will just have to have that instinct, grab your chance and excel.
“Do you love cooking? Why not apply control system in that process then?”, this was my question in my first viva in m.tech after a series of other questions I couldn’t answer accurately. Yes, I am a m.tech student, specialization being control engineering. Yes, I am another jobless engineer from the group of thousands, or rather lakhs of engineers in India.
After coming for my master degree, I realized that I got my engineering degree for just fooling a few people with my twisted answers in the bachelors. I didn’t deserved it. I couldn’t even answer basic questions of my subject which lead me to think, why so many engineers are jobless or sitting in a call center or doing a job that is not even remotely related to engineering in India. It is like people are doing engineering just for the sake of the degree and not motivation or interest in it. And that is sad.
Anyways, I got lucky to meet this professor of mine, who made me realize that the knowledge you gathered is not restricted to a specific domain. You can expand your domain in all direction, go for interdisciplinary work and explore. You can bring your knowledge and your hobby together to create something new or as my sir says, “have wild ideas and try implementing them. you will not get a chance, once you go out of the academic world.” He is the kind of teacher who can highly motivate you and give you a flavor of the real world and how it is functioning in the present time from the perspective of your subject. He is the kind of professor who will scold you from A to Z, but when you sit back and think, you will realize that you well deserved that scolding. And he is also the kind of teacher who will appreciate you but you have to earn it. And yet again, I got lucky that he chose me to be his student.
I love cooking and I can say that I cook pretty good. And that’s a feedback from the people who have tasted my food. So when my professor said, why don’t you apply control system in cooking, I got excited. “Why don’t you go and search the net and come to me if you are interested. That could be your final year project”, was his last line in the viva. I was so excited with the idea that I took out my phone and started searching for some papers of such kind right outside my viva room. My bachelor degree project was a boring case study type of work. Nothing innovative, nothing new. So, I was more than happy. I even started thinking for different ideas for my project and I was just in the first semester. Project will be starting from the second year. The very next day, I went to sir to talk about it. I told him what I found, he gave me a lot more ideas and I started downloading papers, attending workshops that was related to my topic. He was also there constantly encouraging me to move forward with the topic. And here I am, at the end of my first year. I will be working on it from the next session and I am eagerly looking forward to work under the guidance of my professor. I hope I will be successful in achieving what I am aiming for.
